General Counsel and Secretary
Stephen Sypherd serves as a Managing Director and General Counsel at FS Investments. In this role, he is responsible for legal and compliance matters across all FS Investments entities and investment funds.
Prior to joining FS Investments, Mr. Sypherd served for eight years as an attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where he practiced corporate and securities law. While at Skadden, he represented multinational public and private companies in a wide variety of matters including debt and equity offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate and compliance matters.
Mr. Sypherd currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of the Arts and on the advancement and governance committees of that board.
Mr. Sypherd received his BA cum laude in Economics from Villanova University and his JD cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was an executive editor of The Georgetown Law Journal. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Villanova University School of Law.
